South Shore Gardens

‍"Waihuliliʻi Falls is located in Lawai Valley on the sunny south shore of Kauaʻi. It is on the grounds of the McBryde Gardens of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens. They are a not for profit organization chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1964 dedicated to tropical plant research, preservation and education. They have a long and storied place in Kauaʻiʻs history and are leaders in the field of conservation of native plants. The name of the falls translates as the water that turns gently or water that makes small turns. It is an ancient place name and Lawai valley has been inhabited for many hundreds of years. Driving down to the valley is like entering another time, the loving care given to it for generations is readily felt. The falls are accessed by an easy 5 minute walk that leads to a pool that the falls drop 40-50 feet into. There is a gazebo there as well for any valley showers that come through. It is an extremely private and beautiful setting for ceremonies and the rest of the gardens are a photographerʻs paradise for portraits. It is the perfect balance of being easily accessible and truly one of the little known nectar places for weddings on the south shore of Kauaʻi. Highly recomended for groups of 15 or less. The site fee supports the research and conservation efforts as well as the restoration of native plants in Hawaii. A great way to directly give back to Kauaʻi with your wedding and celebration." ~ Written by Kelvin
